Vince Murphy, LCSW, CADC

Practice Owner and Psychotherapist

In recent years, my preoccupation with various creative endeavors led to the development of oddbrained.com, a platform for my work in writing, digital and visual arts. In 2019, I created an interactive art exhibit and short film Exist, addressing our society’s obsession with technological communication. In 2007, I self-published a novel, After Party, which described my first year of sobriety in Chicago at the age of 24.

I am an experienced provider of outpatient treatment to adults and adolescents dealing with both addiction and mental health issues. My approach to therapy includes Cognitive Behavioral Treatment and strengths/boundary setting for families; for clients dealing with addiction, my approach is structured strongly around Motivational Interviewing and the 12-step modality.

My clinical expertise in the mental health space began at Rosecrance Rehab Center where I triaged clients in need of treatment, conducted assessments to determine the best level of care for clients, and provided intervention services.  I have since moved into the outpatient space and continue to coordinate and provide mental health treatment adolescents and adults.

Abby Gomez De La Casa, LCSW

Therapist/Resource Coordinator

(In network with BCBS PPO, Aetna, Cigna and Medicare insurance plans)

I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families who are struggling with depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and difficult life transitions utilizing creative flexible interventions that best meet the client’s needs. I have helped many clients who have experienced significant interpersonal trauma, and have assisted clients in processing larger systemic traumas related to race, gender, sexual orientation, and medical & occupational experiences.

I value providing clients with a genuine supportive experience by showing up as my authentic self; being a human first and therapist second. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable in front of someone is intimidating, even when knowing that mental health professionals are supposed to be non-judgmental and supportive. By showing up as “human first”, I hope to give clients a sense of comfort, so that they may feel at ease with talking about experiences that are uncomfortable to share. When guiding clients on their mental health journey, I center the path on building better relationships with oneself and others, gaining acceptance of what cannot be controlled and creating healthy boundaries within their lives.

Sarah Allen, MA, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor and Psychotherapist

Committing to the work of therapy – reflecting on our inner lives and histories to find balance and to illuminate our life’s purpose and meaning – can be both challenging and gratifying. I strive to provide an accepting, trusting and compassionate atmosphere to support my clients’ work. My professional approach draws on established theories and disciplines, which begins with engaging honestly with your perspective on your history, your present situation, your strengths, needs and goals. Together, we will figure out how you got here and find the path to where you would like to go.

I have experience working with adults and adolescents on issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, complicated family dynamics, and identity formation/self-esteem. In addition, I have specific interests and experience in career transitions, adoption, and the world of performing arts. I came to the practice of psychotherapy later in life, after decades performing as a professional musician in Chicago.

Joseph Herbst, MS, LCPC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 20 years experience in individual, couple, group, and school counseling. I enjoy working with clients eager to engage in their own journey to self-discovery and consider it a sacred privilege to accompany my clients as they become the person they desire to be. I believe that brokenness occurs in relationships with others, but healing can arise through a clinical rapport in therapy.

My eclectic style, while being attuned to each client’s unique story, provides the foundation for this therapeutic relationship. Through a strengths-based approach, I utilize what is already working in clients’ lives and employ this as the scaffolding for emerging skills and improvement in quality of life. In my personal time, I enjoy spending time in nature as a peaceful respite from my loyal but ill advised faithfulness to the Chicago Bears.
